When thinking of processes that have benefited us becoming digital, the first process that comes to mind should be digital banking, Banking has become faster, easier, and more convenient since it went digital. Before digital banking through mobile banking apps or online sites, people had to go to a physical bank to deposit checks, take out cash, or check even their balance. Now through both online and mobile banking, people can do all of that from their phones or computers, anytime and anywhere.
This transformation has several benefits. From a technological perspective, banking apps and websites let people manage their money in real time. You can transfer funds, pay bills, and even deposit checks by simply taking a photo. After making a transaction, you can easily view your balance through the mobile app on your iphone or android. Additionally, clients can get information on certain bank services without having to visit their local branch, making banking more accessible. From an economic standpoint, banks are able to save money as this leads to less physical locations and staff, while customers save time and gas by not having to go in person, making banking more attractive.
But there are some downsides that come with digital banking as well. For example, cybersecurity is a big issue. Just as easy as it is to use mobile banking apps, that’s how easy it is for hackers to access your accounts. A handful of platforms allow you to simple “link: your accounts to your banking account, which som times could lead to fradulent activity and scams. Also, older people or those who aren’t comfortable with technology might find digital banking confusing causing it to not be 100% accessible to everyone from an age standpoint.
Overall, though, I believe digital banking has improved the way we handle money. It has definitely made banking more efficient and accessible for most, even if there are still a few places where improvements can be made. Th good thing is technology continues to evolve, and I cannot wait to see how they can take mobile banking to the next step!
